Edu Dept told to ensure hygiene in schools

MANDI AHMEDGARH: The authorities in the State Education Department have been advised to ensure that students get a hygienic and clean environment at their schools and classrooms when they resume studies after the summer vacations scheduled to commence on June 1.

The authorities in the State Education Department have been advised to ensure that students get a hygienic and clean environment at their schools and classrooms when they resume studies after the summer vacations scheduled to commence on June 1.

All kinds of renovation, repair and maintenance work are to be undertaken and completed before resumption of studies post vacation.

Instructions have been given in compliance of orders of State Education Minister Aruna Chaudhary, who has already directed the higher authorities in the department to ensure that special orders passed in this connection are implemented in letter and spirit.

Perusal of communiqué received at offices of heads of all government school, besides district education officers, revealed that the Director Education (Secondary Education) has advised heads of all schools to ensure that infrastructure and paraphernalia is in perfect condition before the conclusion of summer vacation this year.

Cleanliness of offices, classrooms, laboratories, repair of furniture and fittings, supply of pure drinking water and availability of hygienic lavatories were cited as major pieces of work to be completed during vacation by all means.

“Special emphasis should be laid on cleanliness of offices. It should be ensured during vacation that all roofs are cleaned and webs are removed before the onset of rainy season. Dirty water should not stagnate anywhere in or near schools and roofs should be freed from weeds and grass,” reads a paragraph of the communiqué.

Repair of any kind, whitewash and rectification of electrical fittings and appliances; if required, should also be accomplished before opening of schools after the vacations.

The authorities have also been advised to ensure that irreparable furniture and other articles should be kept safely beyond the reach of students.

Irreparable items of furniture or other articles should be disposed of by adopting proper procedure.

Repair and painting of blackboards, cleaning and disinfection of water storage tanks and arrangement of pure drinking water are among other jobs to be completed during the vacations.

Confirming the receipt of communication at their offices, school heads of the area said they had already advised the officials concerned to get the work started immediately after the commencement of vacations so that the students were provided desired environment after the summer vacations.
