Ahmedgarh: Over 100 students of Paragon International School, Dehlon, were felicitated during the annual function held at the school premises at Dehlon-Nangal road near here.

Block Development Panchayat Officer, Gur Iqbal Singh, presided over the function and the Secretary, Income Tax Bar Association, Ludhiana, Rishi Khanna and the SHO Dehlon, Dalbir Singh, were guests of honour.

SP Sofat, convener of the programme, said more than 100 students of various classes of the school were felicitated for their outstanding performance in fields of academics and extracurricular activities.

Speakers including Gur Iqbal Singh, Sofat, Dalbir Singh and Rishi Khanna called upon the residents of the region to focus attention on quality education of their wards instead of providing them luxuries and comforts of physical life.

The valedictory session was preceded by an elaborate cultural programme presented by students. A comic skit based on the fate of demonetised Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes was liked by all. Ganesha Vandana, welcome dance, choreography on women empowerment, the bondage between mother and child, Bum Bum Bholey, were liked by all.

IGNOU INDUCTION MEETING

An ‘Induction Meeting’ of Indira Gandhi National Open University, was held at IGNOU Special Study Centre, 2210-D, Everest Public Senior Secondary.  Sanjeev Talwar (Sanjay), MLA, Ludhiana- East, was the chief guest on this occasion. Talwar gave a detailed information about the policy and programmes of IGNOU. He said at present lakh of students were receiving education form IGNOU and its centers were not only in India, but throughout the world. He said there were more than 45 centres in other countries. He said in Punjab, IGNOU was offering different value-added need-based education to students through the networks of student learner centres. Asha Sharma, Coordinator, IGNOU Special Study Centre 2210-D, threw light on various subjects taken by the newcomers and advised them to study wholeheartedly to set new records in the sphere of education.

FIRST GRADUATION CEREMONY

Orchid Junior International celebrated its first graduation ceremony for its nursery students. It was a major success as it was the first graduation day for Orchid Junior since it opened its doors for children in November 2015. Children presented a musical act through which they depicted what they wanted to become when they grow up. Through different songs they expressed their feelings of freedom without any pressure from the society. The performances were concluded by a special song which was sung by teachers for the children.

JUNIOR WING ATHLETICS MEET HELD

Focusing on development of students of the BBSB Convent School, Sidhwan belt, organised a junior athletics meet. The main aim of the school’s athletics meet was to develop the students physically as well as mentally. Athletics meet was inaugurated by the management members and the Principal of the school. Students of classes nursery to I participated in different events. Various races such as frog race back race, dog race, table jumping race etc. were performed. On this occasion the Management members and the Principal praised the students and the teachers for their hard work. The winners Harveen Kaur, Jashandeep Kaur, Harjap Singh, Bismanpreet Kaur, Prableen Kaur, Parneet Kaur etc. were given the prizes by the Management members and the Principal for their achievements.

WORKSHOP ON SELF-AWARENESS 

A workshop on “Remaining Relevant and Effective through Self Awareness” was conducted by Rayat Bahra University in USPC Jain Public School, Jamalpur. The speaker for the day was Dr Raj Singh, the Vice Chancellor of RBU Chandigarh. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr Raj Singh himself in the presence of the President of the school, Tarsem Kumar Jain, General Secretary MP Jain, Vice Principal Vinny Malhotra, General Secretary of the Elementary Campus MP Jain alongwith Rohit Moudgill, Manmeet Kakkar, Vikas Sharma, Naveen Kumar and Promila Puri.

LEISURE TIME ACTIVITIES

Tiny tots of Blossoms Convent School, Sidhwan Bet Road, Jagraon, were given an hour free to do whatever they wanted to explore themselves. They performed different activities including playing, doing fun while coloring paintings, reading poems, drawing pictures etc. Principal Amarjit Kaur said that the God has blessed each and every human with some talent. — TNS
