The Ludhiana Ophthalmological Society (LOS) organised a state-level Continuing medical education (CME) programme ‘Ophthalmology 2017-Retina’ at Ishmeet Singh Music Institute here. The programme catered to current trends in the management of retinal diseases with faculty from all over India. The occasion was graced by Padma Shri awardees Amod Gupta (Chandigarh) and S Natarajan (Mumbai). In the surgical session, 23-G and 27-G vitrectomy, closure of
macular holes, ILM peeling, ocular trauma, giant retinal tears, pars plana vitrectomy, peribulbur perforation, ocular inflammation, and endophthalmitis were discussed.
Check-up camp
Vardhman Foundation organised a multi-speciality health check-up camp with a team of specialists from Dayanand Medical Collage and Hospital. The doctors who attended the camp were Biahav Mohan (Cardiologist), Dinesh Jain (Medicine), Deepak Jain (Orthopaedic), Kunal Jain (Oncologist), Ajay Jain (Paediatrics). Complete blood test reports were given to every patient. The camp was inaugurated by Prem Gupta, Secretary, Dayanand Medical Collage and Hospital.
Health carnival
Ludhiana chapter of the Indian Dietetic Association (IDA) organised a ‘Nutrition and Health Carnival’ at Pavilion Mall. The carnival was celebrated to mark National Dietetics Day. The theme of the day for the year is ‘Consult a Dietician - Be Fooducated’. Ritu Sudhakar, Chief Dietician of the DMCH and president of Ludhiana unit of the IDA, said the function was a combined effort of all members of the Ludhiana chapter of the IDA. All dieticians who are also members of the IDA’s Ludhiana unit came together to create awareness among public about the importance of trained and authentic, dietetic and nutrition professionals, who can guide them in staying healthy. — TNS
