Master Tara Singh College girls get STUDY GRANT

Ludhiana: On the 167th Sewa Saubhagya Programme, Yog Aur Sewa Pariwar, an organisation handed over a cheque of Rs 40,000 for the needy students of Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women to college Principal Dr Kirandeep Kaur. Usha Jain from the organisation said the project would be completed in 2017 with the last installment of Rs 40,000. Vinod Dabar from the organisation said 83 girls of different colleges have been given the study grant so far.

STUDENTS SHINE IN ATHLETICS MEET

Students of Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town, won the Panjab University Athletics Championship held at Chandigarh with 56 points. College athlete Vipanjeet Kaur of BA-2nd year was declared the “Best Athlete” of Panjab University. Vipanjeet Kaur won four gold medals in 100 mtr, 200 mtr, 100 mtr, and 400 mtr relay. Shivdeep Kaur of MA-2nd (Political Science) won three gold medals in heptethlon, 100 mtr and 400 mtr relay. Rajni, another student, won two silver medals in 100 m and 400 m hurdles. Amandeep Kaur won silver medal in heptethlon. Sukhveer Kaur won two gold medals in 100 mtr, 400 mtr relay and a bronze medal in 800 mtr. Abhiti Sharma won two gold medals in 100 mtr and 400 mtr relay. Soma Rani won the fourth position in 5-km walk. Principal Dr Charanjit Mahal congratulated the winners. —TNS
