Students, teachers take pledge to avoid junk food

To celebrate World Health Day, BCM School organised various activities on Friday, which highlighted the need and importance of good health and exhorted them to shoulder the responsibility to create awareness among society members.



To celebrate World Health Day, BCM School organised various activities on Friday, which highlighted the need and importance of good health and exhorted them to shoulder the responsibility to create awareness among society members. The morning assembly was marked by the PPT, thoughts, shlokas, poem and speech on the theme 'Glow of good health' and evoked students' desire to be fit and healthy for an exultant life. Students and teachers took a pledge to avoid junk food and follow healthy diet.

Skit spreads awareness on health problems

Ram Lal Bhasin Public School organised a function to mark World Health Day to bring awareness among children regarding health issues. Students of Class VI to VIII presented a skit based on wrong eating habits. Bismanjot (Class VI), Yadvi (Class VI), Parneet (Class V) and Japan (Class IX) recited poems during the function. The science teacher shared her views on paying attention to eating habits by citing examples. While addressing students, school doctor Tasveen said due to junk food, health of hundreds of people was at risk. "Green vegetables and fresh food should be the main part of our daily diet," she said. Principal Raman Oberoi said, "Depression is not a disease, but a perception. So the need of the hour is to keep our attitude positive. "

Warm welcome for students at Spring Dale School

The new session began with enthusiasm at Spring Dale Senior Secondary Public School on Saturday. Students were accorded a warm welcome by the Principal on behalf of the school management and staff under the guidance of Managing Director (MD) Avinash Kaur Walia. Music and dance programmes and valuable heart-to-heart talk were organised to welcome young students. The highlight of the function was students dancing on beats of 'dhol'. Deputy Director Kamalpreet Kaur along with Principal Anil Kumar Sharma wished students a bright future and motivated them to reach the zenith of success by inculcating the habit of self-study.

Session exhorts students to have positive outlook

A special assembly was held at DCM Presidency School by members of the Wellness Club to celebrate World Health Day. Students were told about importance of eating healthy food to take care of their physical and mental health through an inspirational poem and speech. Dr Palak Jain, a consultant psychologist, conducted an informative session for students of Classes IX to XII. She inspired them to have a positive outlook towards life. School Principal Nupur Nutan told students to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Special function marks annual day at Nirdosh School

Nirdosh School for specially challenged organised a special annual function in which all children took part according to their capabilities. Parents were overwhelmed and mesmerised by the performance of their children. Dr Sandeep Puri, Principal, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), gave valuable inputs for the betterment of the school. The school management expressed hope of getting support for medical needs from the DMCH. Members were given special awards and children, who worked in the vocational rehabilitation arena, got special cash incentives during the function. The theme of the function was 'Aashayian' (hopes). 

Orientation programme at Sacred Heart School

An orientation ceremony was organised at Sacred Heart Convent School, Bhattian, to welcome children. Winners of Penta Soft competition and Talent Hunt contest were felicitated. New students were welcomed along with their parents with lighted candles as a symbol of imparting knowledge, keeping in mind the school motto for 2017-18 'Together towards excellence'. The programme came to an end with a giddha followed by singing of National Anthem. — TNS
