Ludhiana: Environment Week was observed at Manav Rachna International School. A special assembly was organised to sensitise students about their responsibility towards planet earth. The assembly took off with a thoughtful quote imploring one and all to let the “Mother Earth breathe”. The week-long celebrations entail myriad theme specific learning activities, including bird feeder making, group discussions on ways to “save environment”.

Anti-drug seminar

Blossoms Convent School, Jagraon, conducted anti-drug seminar at Ramgarh Bhullar village. Dr Amarjeet Kaur Naaz, principal, addressed villagers to encourage, especially mothers, to stop their kids from following the wrong path. Naaz urged people to make their kids aware about harmful effects of drugs.

Chocolate Day celebrated

Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar, organised inter-house chocolate dessert, mocktail making competition on the occasion of World Chocolate Day. Participants of each house explained the speciality of their mocktail and chocolate desserts in regular diet to maintain good health and keep diseases at bay. Tiny tots of kindergarten section also celebrated Chocolate Day.

Extempore contest held

An inter-house English extempore contest was held at Kundan Vidya Mandir, city campus. Headmistress Namita Raj Singh motivated students to take part in competitions to gain confidence and learn the art of oratory.

Kho-Kho tourney organised

An inter-house Kho-Kho contest was held at USPC Jain Public School, Jamalpur, wherein girls of Class VI to VIII participated. Aakash house led by Harleen Minhal bagged first position, Agni and Vayu house bagged second and third position, respectively. The intent of competition was to develop the overall personality of students by nurturing every aspect of their life.

Inter-house skating contest 

Bal Bharati Public School organised an inter-house skating competition. A team of three students from each house participated in the event which commenced with 300 meter race followed by a 500 meter race. Harjas Singh of Class VI (B), Ranbir of Class VI (A) and Aliza of of Class VII (C) of Mars house bagged the first position, respectively. Rehan Verma of Class VIII (B), Rhythm of Class VII (C) and Krish of Class VII (D) of Mercury house stood second. — TNS
