LUDHIANA: The police have booked SAD leader Harpreet Bedi and three others in a case of alleged kidnapping.

Ludhiana, December 11

The police have booked SAD leader Harpreet Bedi and three others in a case of alleged kidnapping. Bedi is the husband of former councillor from Ward No. 57 Veeran Bedi.

The complainant, Subhash Chand Bansal, who works at a petrol station, said he was kidnapped and taken to the office of former councillor at Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar.

Bansal, who is from Bathinda, said he was earlier running a business of water purifiers and he had taken a loan of Rs 1 lakh from a person, named Harminder Singh, of Rajguru Nagar. As he suffered losses, he could not return the money, Bansal told the police.

The complainant said when he was going towards BRS Market in Ludhiana on Sunday, he was allegedly kidnapped and taken to the former councillor’s office. They allegedly took a blank cheque from him and thrashed him. They also took away his bike and mobile phone, Bansal said, adding that he managed to escape from the office.

The Sarabha Nagar police have registered a case against four persons, including Harpreet Bedi, Harminder Singh and his wife Kuldeep Kaur and one more person. The case has been registered under Sections 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully confining a person) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.

The ACP-West, Gurpreet Singh, said investigation into the case was underway. TNS
