Ludhiana, October 12
The department of ophthalmology, Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH), in association with the Lobo Memorial Trust, organised the 37th annual Lobo Memorial Oration today. The theme for this year’s oration was ‘Recent updates on cataract and refractive surgery’.
The oration was delivered by Prof Jagat Ram, ophthalmologist and director, PGIMER, Chandigarh, on “Achieving excellence combining focus, talent and medicine”. He has contributed as senior consultant ophthalmologist to the Republic of Seychelles, under the Government of India, from 2003 to 2005 and eliminated backlog of cataract blindness in the island nation.
Maninderjit Singh, president, Lobo Memorial Trust, recalled the contributions of Dr LH Lobo, former principal of Christian Medical College, in the field of orthopedics.
Prof Jagat Ram was honoured with by the Trust with a silver plaque, medallion and a shawl. The oration was followed by a CME in which eminent ophthalmologists from Chandigarh, Jalandhar and New Delhi gave talks on various topics and enlightened the delegates and postgraduate students. —TNS
