The Ludhiana rural police have arrested a youth for raping a minor migrant girl. He has been identified as Dalbara Singh Soni, a resident of Maherna Kalan, Raikot subdivision. He works as a driver at a cattle feed factory where the victim’s family resides. He was arrested by the Chhapar Chowki police while he was trying to flee the area.

The police have registered a case under Section 376 and 506 of the IPC besides Section 3 and 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 (POCSOA).

Dharminder Kumar Yadav, a native of Madho Patti village, under the Kamtol police station in Darbangha district of Bihar, informed the police that he had been working at SL Industries, a cattle feed unit, at Hargobindpura village for about 17 years. He, along with his family, was living at the quarters provided by the employer on the factory premises. As her wife had undergone a surgical operation about two months ago, the family had called his wife’s 13-year-old sister for help in domestic chores.

Yadav alleged that Dalbara Singh Soni, who works as a driver at the factory, allegedly raped the victim when she had gone to toilets on Friday afternoon. Though the complainant had seen the accused coming out of the toilet being used by the victim, he (accused) escaped from the scene after threatening the victim with dire consequences in case she disclosed the incident to anybody.

It was later, when the victim developed complications she informed her sister and the family informed the police with the help of the employer.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim girl is a Class VII student of a school at her native village.
