Farwell at women’s college

LUDHIANA: The Khalsa Institute of Management and Technology for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organised a farewell party for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Junior students bid warm farewell to their seniors.

LUDHIANA: The Khalsa Institute of Management and Technology for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organised a farewell party for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Junior students bid warm farewell to their seniors. A fashion show was organised on this occasion. It had three rounds. The first round was the introduction round, while second round was the talent round and the third round was the question-answer round. The following students won the titles:

Miss Farewell: Dhwani Dhir( MBA)

First Runner-up: Megha Verma (MBA)

Second Runner-up: Akashdeep Kaur (BCA)

Miss Confidence: Pallavi Bajaj (BCA)

Miss Personality:Ani Madaan (BBA)

Miss Charming: Sheenu Sareen (MBA)

Extension lecture at GGN Khalsa

Under the patronage of management and principal, the post Graduate Department of English, GGN Khalsa College, organised an extension lecture on Thursday. The topic of lecture was “writer as critic” in which Dr TS Anand, who is an editor, poet and author, shared his views. He has more than 18 books to his credit. Dr Anand answered the queries of the students and teachers during the session. The principal, Arvinder Singh Bhalla, congratulated the Department of English for organising the lecture. The head of the department, LS Bedi, while proposing the vote of thanks said the motive of organising lecture was to promote the interest of students in poetical works. 

Fashion show at girls’ college

The department of beauty and wellness of Government College for Girls, Ludhiana, organised a fashion show at the college. Principal Savita Sharma was the chief guest. Students enthusiastically participated in different competitions such as bridal makeup, bollywood style and party makeup. The dresses for the event were sponsored by Vishal Lehnga Store, Karimpura, Ludhiana. The judges were Maninder Kaur, Jaspreet Kaur and Usha Arora. In bridal makeup contest, Lipika Khosla secured the first position, while Maninder and Harjot stood second and third, respectively. Harmandeep Kaur and Amanpreet Kaur jointly won bollywood style and party makeup contest, while Charu Sharma, Kanika Sharma and Sanpreet Kaur were declared second. Deepika, Upneet Kaur and Nancy bagged the third position. The Principal appreciated the efforts of the students and congratulated the winners. 

Extension lecture 

The mathematics department of SDP College for Women, Ludhiana, organised an extension lecture on ‘Optimisation Theory’. The lecture was delivered by Dr Vanita Verma, professor in mathematics department at the Panjab University, Chandigarh. Officiating principal Manju Bhashinee gave a floral welcome to the guest speaker. Vanita Verma spoke on ‘Optimisation Theory’ also known as the modern term for operations research. She highlighted the applicability of this theory as a methodology of making something as fully perfect, functional or effective as possible, specifically in mathematical procedures. Students listened to the lecture attentively and asked questions. In the end, Manju Bhashinee presented the vote of thanks. 

Bon Voyage

The department of science at Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organised ‘Bon Voyage’ for science students. The final year students walked the ramp showcasing ethnic dresses. The judges were Priyanka Khanna, Prabhleen Toor and Poonam Pathak. Students mesmerised the audiences with their enthralling dance performance and qawali. The outgoing students were given mementos as token of love. Students were honoured by principal Mukti Gill. —TNS
