February 24 a holiday in govt offices

LUDHIANA: The Punjab Government has declared a holiday in all government offices, corporations, boards, and educational institutions under the jurisdiction of 95 wards of the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation and two wards in Payal and Jagraon Municipal Councils in the district where polling would be held on February 24.

The Punjab Government has declared a holiday in all government offices, corporations, boards, and educational institutions under the jurisdiction of 95 wards of the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation and two wards in Payal and Jagraon Municipal Councils in the district where polling would be held on February 24.

District Electoral Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal said if any officer or employee who worked outside the district and was a registered voter of the LMC or two wards in Payal and Jagraon MCs, wished to cast his vote, the concerned authority should sanction special leave to him or her. This special leave will be separate from other sanctioned leaves.

This holiday has been declared under The Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881, in order to enable the people to exercise their franchise. — TNS
