Standing wheat crop over 4.5 acre and stubble on 12 acre was destroyed when a major fire broke out at Rajgarh village in the noon on Friday.
Villagers, who had gathered in big numbers, immediately doused the flames, which spread like a jungle fire. Fire engines, too, reached the village within no time and tried to put off the blaze. Short circuit is being cited as the reason behind the fire. Had villagers not acted promptly, the blaze could have caused more loss to neighbouring fields.
Meanwhile, owner of the wheat and stubble, Shamsher Singh, son of Jeet Singh, a resident of Rajgarh village, has demanded adequate compensation for the damage caused to his crop due to the short circuit.
