Fortuner stolen in city recovered from Gounder’s aide in Haryana

LUDHIANA: Toyota Fortuner recovered by the Yamunanagar police in Haryana from a person, Darshan Singh, alias Bhura, who gave shelter to the elusive gangster Harjinder Singh, alias Vicky Gounder, and his aides had been taken away by three men from the driver of a local businessmen at gunpoint from Rajguru Nagar here on November 14.

Toyota Fortuner recovered by the Yamunanagar police in Haryana from a person, Darshan Singh, alias Bhura, who gave shelter to the elusive gangster Harjinder Singh, alias Vicky Gounder, and his aides had been taken away by three men from the driver of a local businessmen at gunpoint from Rajguru Nagar here on November 14.

Though the SUV overturned during a chase by the police at Sherpur Mor in Haryana, the gangster managed to escape with his aides. Bhura later towed away the SUV and hid it at some place.

Gounder escaped from the Nabha jail along with his five aides on Nov 27.

The Toyota Fortuner was taken away by three armed men from a crowded place near a private tuition centre at Rajguru Nagar. The carjackers had also shot at the driver, Pawan Kumar (25). The SUV belongs to an iron trader, Sanjay Garg, a resident of New Friends Colony, Badewal. He owns Allied Recycling situated at Focal Point. The owner’s son, Madhav (14), a student on 9th standard, was also accompanying the driver when the car was stolen at gunpoint.

A police officials said Gounder was not among the three armed men who stole the SUV from Ludhiana.

Police Commissioner RN Dhoke confirmed to The Tribune that the SUV recovered by the Haryana Police was the one stolen by armed men from the businessman’s driver in Ludhiana.

“We had zeroed in on the armed men who had stolen the SUV from Ludhiana and even raids were conducted at Muktsar, Faridkot and Moga at their suspected hideouts. Until and unless we arrest those carjackers, we cannot confirm they are the aides of gangster Gounder,” Dhoke added.

Harjinder (27), aka Jinder, aka Vicky Gounder, is the son of farmer Mehal Singh Bhullar of Sarawan Bodla village in Parkash Singh Badal’s home turf Lambi.
