High drama was witnessed outside the Shimlapuri police station where industrialists along with several other businessmen gathered to protest against the alleged police inaction in a raid conducted by four men at a shop in Dashmesh Nagar. The four accused impersonated as policemen from the CIA.

Meanwhile, the police nabbed the four fake policemen and slapped FIR on them under Sections 452 and 170 of the IPC. The accused were identified as Kuljeet, Gagandeep, Pardeep and Parkash. All four are reportedly members of a wine contractor’s raiding party.

ADCP (2) Sandeep Garg said after the matter regarding fake policemen conducting a raid at a karyana shop and then at the office of a businessman was raised by industrialists, the police arrested the four men after verifying their claims.

“These four men were impersonating themselves as CIA officials and had conducted a raid at shop where they also thrashed the shopkeeper on the plea that he had stored illegal liquor. However, no liquor was recovered from the shop,” added the ADCP.

Gurjit Singh, who owns cycle parts unit in Dashmesh Nagar, alleged that several men claiming themselves as CIA officials conducted raid at a shop outside his factory in search of illegal liquor and they also thrashed the shopkeeper. He said, “Later, they entered in our factory office where they also misbehaved with my brother and leveled allegations on him for storing illegal liquor. They failed to show identity cards when my brother asked them to do so. Instead, they entered into heated arguments with my brother. We suspected some foul play and the accused were nabbed,” Gurjit told mediapersons outside the police station. He said when they reached Shimlapuri police station policemen behaved rudely and even tried to manhandle them.

Sources said two policemen of the CIA had also reportedly accompanied the raiding party, but officials are mum on the matter. However, the Shimlapuri SHO, Mohammad Jamil, had earlier told mediapersons that officials of the CIA had conducted a raid on secret information. Later, the SHO did not respond to repeated phone calls.
