Ludhiana: A girl allegedly eloped with two men after stealing 15 tolas of gold ornaments from her house. The girl’s father, a resident of Santutar Nagar, told the police that his 20-year-old daughter stole 15 tolas of gold from home and fled with two men on August 21. The duo was identified as Arshdeep Singh of Chonk Kalan and Manjinder Singh of Krishana Nagar. He suspected that one of the accused seemed to have taken her along by luring her for marriage. The police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused. TNS
Two vehicles impounded for illegal mining in city
Ludhiana: The Salem Tabri police have impounded two vehicles laden with illegally mined sand. However, the drivers, identified as Sarabjit Singh and Peetu, both residents of Talwandi Kalan, escaped. The police said a naka was set up on the Jalandhar bypass. Two tractor-trailers were signalled to stop for checking at a naka. Fearing arrest, the drivers fled while abandoning vehicles on the road.
