The Jagraon police recovered a body of a 3 to 4-year-old girl from wild bushes on the Bhamipura-Manuke road last evening.
However, the victim could not be identified. After getting the post mortem done, the police have kept the body at the Jagraon Civil Hospital mortuary.
According to sources, the body was first spotted by a villager, who informed the panchayat about it. The panchayat informed the police following which a police team from Hathur police station visited the spot and took the body under its custody. The police sent the body to the Civil Hospital in Jagraon for post mortem.
Confirming the development, SHO Hathur Rajesh Kumar said: “It appears that the age of the girl is around 3 to 4 years. No one has lodged a missing complaint with the police so far. The police have been trying to establish the identity of the victim.”
“We have also made a public announcement in nearby villages, but nobody has approached the police so far,” the Station House Officer said. The police have kept the body of the victim at the mortuary of the Civil Hospital in Jagraon for identification. Further investigation is on in the case, the SHO said.
