Judicial Magistrate Jagjit Singh today adjourned the hearing in the defamation case filed by former minister Bikram Singh Majithia against AAP leader Sanjay Singh till March 7.

Sanjay Singh appeared before the court but failed to file a reply to the application moved by Majithia seeking permission to lead additional evidence.

In its criminal complaint, Majithia has alleged that Sanjay Singh made a false and defamatory statement against him at a rally in Moga on September 9, 2015. It was alleged that he did not stop here but launched a fallacious campaign in order to defame and discredit the complainant.

He was unnecessarily being portrayed to be involved with drug racketeers who were nabbed by none other than the Government of Punjab.

Sanjay Singh has made slanderous, defamatory and scurrilous statements against him in an unbridled manner without any basis or material and only with the purpose of intentionally defaming and discrediting him in the eyes of general public, says complaint.
