Hero Cycle’s Rs 1,999 roadster to be a tech marvel

Ludhiana: Hero Cycles has announced that it is committed to deliver on Pankaj M Munjal’s promise of launching one of the cheapest bicycles in the country.

Ludhiana: Hero Cycles has announced that it is committed to deliver on Pankaj M Munjal’s promise of launching one of the cheapest bicycles in the country.

The organisation has released the details of new tech-enhanced roadster model, priced at just Rs 1,999. The new roadster concept features technologically specific solutions designed by the Hero’s Manchester based Global Design Centre (HGD), specially for daily commuters who use bicycles to get to work, remote markets, schools or hospitals.

Bicycles continue to be the principal mode of travel for a large proportion of India’s low income workforce, especially in remote rural locations. As many as 320 million people travel between 6 and 10 kilometers daily to their places of employment, trade, business or commune. About 70 per cent of bicycles are bought to bring more convenience, enhance productivity and reduce conveyance time.

Hero’s upgraded roadster will have a technologically advanced steel frame that will enable 50 per cent higher load-carrying capacity while reducing weight on the ride. Its parts will be chemically-treated and rust-free.

“It will be an entirely new product, developed with materials which are remarkably durable but light-weight,” says Pankaj M Munjal, Chairman, Hero Motors Company.
