The Income Tax Department carried out six surveys in Patiala, Samana, Moga and Malerkotla in the last one week against suspected tax evasion, which resulted in detection of over Rs 4.5 crores of undisclosed income.
In Patiala and Samana, four surveys were carried out in the case of doctors and medical homes. Undisclosed income amounting to Rs 3 crore was admitted by the assesses.
In another survey, which was held by the I-T department in Malerkotla survey, Rs1 crore of undisclosed income was admitted, informed highly placed sources in the department.
In the case of a manufacturer and supplier of school uniforms in Moga, large quantities of unaccounted stocks were found during the survey by the Moga range, resulting in disclosure of around Rs 50 lakhs undisclosed income.
Documents and books of account found during the survey operations are being further verified to establish the full extent of evasion, said the I-T officials.
