Ludhiana, August 18

Members of the Insaf Di Awaz continued their protest against the Pearl Group and submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner at his office here today.

Members of the organisation have been demanding an action against the owners of the Pearl Group and their kin. The group had allegedly committed huge frauds in Punjab and other places.

Protesters said in Punjab alone, approximately 25 lakh persons had invested more than Rs 10,000 crore into the chit-fund.

They said the group owned land in Punjab which was worth several crores. The government must intervene and attach all properties of the Pearl Group, said they.

The agitators alleged that persons, in a bid to save their skin, were “fraudulently” selling/purchasing the land.

This should be stopped immediately and those who had invested in the group should get their money back.
