Jagraon, October 12

The principals, staff members and management members of various private schools of Jagraon under the aegis of Jagraon School Association observed Black Day today against anti-private school policies of the government.

The protesting members of the private schools staff tied black ribbons to express their anguish against anti-private school policies by the government.

While addressing the media during the protest at Sanmati Roop Chand Jain School, Jagraon, Association’s secretary Vishal Jain said on one hand the government talks about women empowerment while on the other it issues instructions to conduct psychometric tests and police verification of the women teachers and female staff working in private schools.

According to Vishal Jain, around 60,000 private unaided schools throughout the country have been observing this black day.

The association president, Shashi Jain, said the government which had initiated the ‘Beti Padhao Beti Bachao’ campaign had been exposed as its decision to make a two year online course for teachers teaching in schools for years mandatory had rendered thousands of school teachers helpless.

On the issue of school fee, the association members said that the private schools should be given freedom to fix the school fee of the schoolchildren .
