Khanna police seize 1.5 kg heroin worth Rs 7.5 crore

KHANNA: Due to a high-tech naka and ‘vahan’ applictaion the Khanna police claimed to have recovered 1.5 kg of heroin worth of about 7.5 crore in the international market. The police have arrested two persons of inter-state gang in this regard at a naka installed at Doraha by the Khanna police.

Due to a high-tech naka and ‘vahan’ applictaion the Khanna police claimed to have recovered 1.5 kg of heroin worth of about 7.5 crore in the international market. The police have arrested two persons of inter-state gang in this regard at a naka installed at Doraha by the Khanna police.

The arrested persons have been identified as Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Gurusar District Bathinda and Lakhvir Singh, a resident of Kutwewa village, District Barnala.

In a press conference, Khanna SSP Navjot Singh Mahal said, a police party of Khanna police led by SP(I) Jasvir Singh and Doraha SHO along with other concerned officials had laid a naka near Doraha Bridge. During checking, the police party stopped a white swift car coming from Khanna side and going towards Ludhiana. When the car was searched, the police officials found heroin clad in a black polythene bag. It was kept in a dash board. As per the SSP, the car occupants failed to show any document related to the drug and they were arrested after registering a case under the NDPS act in this regard.

He further alleged accused had brought this consignement from Delhi and were to sell at Jalandhar.

He further said the police were investigating arrested persons for their other links. The SSP said the arrested persons would be presented in a court tomorrow for further legal action against the alleged accused.
