The Khanna CIA police claimed to have arrested one person and recovered 1 kg opium from his possession during a patrolling in the area.
The accused has been identified as Pargat Singh, a resident of Akalgarh village near Phagwara.
SSP Khanna Navjot Singh Mahal said a police party of CIA Khanna under CIA in-charge Baljinder Singh was on patrolling in the area near Alour village.
The police team witnessed a person at a deserted place near Alour village with a bag. While checking his bag, the police recovered 1 kg opium from his possession.
A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at the Khanna sadar police station.
The SSP said the alleged accused would be presented in a court on Wednesday for further interrogation.
The SSP said in another incident, a police party of Khanna city 2 had laid a naka near Bhattian village.
During the naka, the police stopped a car coming from New Delhi with two occupants. While checking, 20 gm heroin was recovered from their possession.
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered in this regard against the two alleged accused, identified as Parshinder Singh, a resident of Nakodar and Jobanpreet Singh, a resident of Goindwal Sahib.
