Ludhiana, April 20

A child, who was kidnapped from a slum area in Salem Tabri on the night of April 14, has been rescued by the police. However, kidnappers are yet to be traced.

Additional DCP Gurpreet Singh Walia, ACP-North Lakhvir Singh Tiwana and Salem Tabri SHO Vijay Kumar conducted a press conference on Friday. The police said when they found the one-and-a-half-year-old child abandoned in a vacant plot at Noorwala village, he was wearing a female dress, had his nails painted and hair chopped.

The ADCP said after Shahdeen reported the kidnapping of his child, the police sounded an alert in the entire district. A search operation was conducted in the nearby villages.

“As we had spread the word about kidnapping in villages, kidnappers could not bear the pressure of the police. They abandoned the child at Noorwala. The moment we got a call about the child’s location, we reached there and recovered the child. The child is seemingly fit and fine. He was found wearing a female dress, with nails painted and hair chopped. The kidnappers might have changed his appearance to prevent his identification,” the ADCP revealed.

He said the police were working on various theories to find the cause of kidnapping. “It is yet unclear why kidnappers kidnapped the boy. We are checking CCTV cameras to find a clue about the kidnappers,” he added.
