The Delhi police is yet to find a clue of kidnappers of Jain saint Gani Rajindra Vijay, who was dumped yesterday morning in the bushes near Sahnewal Airport.

The police is presently working on various theories. The CCTV cameras, installed near the airport, are being checked to arrive at some definite conclusion regarding the kidnappers. The police is also trying to find their whereabouts through mobile surveillance.

When contacted, the SHO, Roop Nagar police station, Ram Niwas, said, “He gained consciousness only in the bushes and went to a nearby local grocery owner. He came to know that he was in some part of Ludhiana after which he made a call at the Home Minister’s Office in Delhi. He immediately got a call back from the office.”

“From the day the Jain Guru was kidnapped, we tried our level best to find him. Yesterday, when we got the information, we immediately started from Delhi to bring the Jain Guru back home safely from Sahnewal and hand him over to his followers,” the SHO added.

When contacted, the SHO, Sahnewal police station, Surinder Singh, shared, “We did our duty in assisting the Delhi police in getting the Jain Guru medically examined as he was complaining of pain. He was immediately taken back to Delhi after the medical check up.”

Asked if the Sahnewal police was conducting further investigations in the case the SHO said, “As the case is with the Roop Nagar police, it is for them to probe it further. We can just assist them if they ask for help.”

It has, however, been learnt that disciples of Gani Rajindra Vijay have been pressing upon the Delhi police to find their Guru. Now, as the guru is with them, they want kidnappers behind bars as early as possible. The Jain community here has infact condemned the incident and termed it as a threat to their religion and safety as well.

“We are peace loving community and can never even think of harming anybody. Kidnapping is condemnable. The kidnappers should be traced at the earliest and taught a lesson of their lives,” shared a representative of the Jain community in Ludhiana, who did not wish to be quoted.
