Labourer killed while cleaning village pond

MACHHIWARA: A labourer was killed at Ranwan village, near here, during the cleaning of a village pond.

A labourer was killed at Ranwan village, near here, during the cleaning of a village pond. The deceased has been identified as Pal Singh (55) of the same village.

According to information, tractors and labourers were engaged in the cleaning of the village pond. As the tractors were removing mud from the pond, Pal Singh was assisting in work. The link attaching cleaning equipment to a tractor suddenly snapped and the tractor hit Pal Singh. In the meantime, another tractor ran Pal Singh over, resulting in his death on the spot. Machhiwara SHO Surinderpal Singh said they had sent the body for post-mortem. No case has been registered. They would act as per law after the statement of the person concerned, he added.
