LBA cagers humble Jalandhar men

LUDHIANA: Ludhiana Basketball Academy (LBA) humbled Jalandhar district 85-52 in the men’s section to register first victory on the second day of the ongoing 26th Senior Punjab Basketball League at Gureh village, near here, today.

Ludhiana Basketball Academy (LBA) humbled Jalandhar district 85-52 in the men’s section to register first victory on the second day of the ongoing 26th Senior Punjab Basketball League at Gureh village, near here, today. The academy lads had lost their inaugural match yesterday against Rali Coach Factory, Kapurthala, 77-82.

After establishing a comfortable lead at half time (45-28), the LBA went on to wrap up the issue easily. The LBA trainee, Jaipal Singh contributed 25 points while Suapnil Sharma chipped in with 20 points for the losers.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Police (men) continued their victory streak by recording another win today. They tamed Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala, 96-71. For the winning side, Dilpreet dropped in 19 points while Harman played well for the losing side scoring 21 points.

In the women’s section, Amritsar district defeated Mansa district 46-25 after leading 28-16 at half time. Samriti sank in nine points to steer Amritsar outfit to victory while Sheffy (15) fought well for the losers.

In another match in the women’s section, Ludhiana district waged a spirited battle against the Punjab Police before going down 54-58. Harjeet Kaur scored 18 points for the winners while Kirandeep Kaur contributed 25 points for the losing side.
