Ludhiana, January 19

A woman had to pay the price for cheating on her husband. Nishan Singh, a truck driver, strangled his wife Manpreet Kaur as the latter cheated on him by not disclosing her first marriage. She was not only already married but also had two children from her first husband. She would see her first husband when Nishan was away on tours for days together.

Manpreet and Nishan got married about two years ago. Manpreet did not tell her husband before marriage that she was already married and had two children from her first husband. She would go to Tarn Taran to see her first husband and children while Nishan was away on tour.

She used to tell lies to her first husband as well. She would tell him that she was going to visit her relatives for a few days. This way, she was fooling both her husbands and leading two married lives at a time.

This time when Nishan came back from a tour, he got to know that Manpreet had left home as soon as he left for the tour. Nishan asked Manpreet but she did not reply, which raised his suspicion. Both of them had an argument yesterday. Nishan strangled Manpreet with her “dupatta”. He waited till evening to dispose of the body into a canal.

Late last evening, while Nishan was taking the body in his truck to dispose it of, he was signalled to stop by the police near Lohara Colony in the Daba area. However, Nishan tried to sped off. The police nabbed him after a brief chase.

The DCP (Crime), Bhupinder Singh, said it was shocking for the police too to know that the driver (Nishan Singh) was ferrying the body of his wife. Bhupinder appreciated the alertness of the police personnel.
