The STF wing of Ludhiana claimed to have arrested Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) leader Ravinder Singh Sonu and another person in a drug peddling case. Notably, Ravinder had contested the MC elections from Ward No. 48 on the ticket of Lok Insaaf Party being led by Simarjit Singh Bains.

Initially, the STF had nabbed a peddler identified as Damandeep Narang, alias Daman, a resident of Basant Vihar, with 50-gram heroin. During his interrogation, the name of LIP leader Ravinder Singh cropped up. Taking cue from the arrested peddler, the STF immediately conducted a raid at the whereabouts of LIP leader and reportedly recovered 2-gram heroin from him.

STF chief Harbans Singh said a naka was laid at Peeru Banda mohalla and Daman was stopped for checking. During the search of his belongings, narcotics were recovered from him. During interrogation, peddler Daman, told the police that he was bringing the consignment of drugs from some Delhi-based smugglers and was selling these in the city. On further disclosures of the peddler that Ravinder was also involved in the drug trade, a team conducted a raid and arrested him with heroin.

Further probe was on to inquire about other links of Ravinder and Daman.
