Ludhiana, June 23

Members of the Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) protested against the Congress government. The protesters alleged that the LIP MLAs — Bains brothers — were not being allowed to sit in the Vidhan Sabha for raising their voice on the issue of farmer suicides, water of Punjab and corruption in sand-mining.

They also alleged that even women MLAs were being mistreated in the Vidhan Sabha. Later, Simarjit Bains, said earlier Badal government looted Punjab and now the Captain-led Congress government in the state was on the same way.

Man in trouble after ‘help’ from MLA

Sharanjit Singh, a welder, alleged that he has landed into a trouble due to Simarjit Singh Bains’ intervention in the fine he was levied upon by the PSPCL. He said he had recieved a high bill from the PSPCL after imposing a fine of Rs 1.62 lakh for a direct connection. When he went to complain about it to Bains, he intervened and called up an executive engineer and his majority of fine was exempted. They let him continue direct connection from powerline instead, but now when he has been handed a huge fine of Rs 3.6 lakh, the MLA is not helping him out.

Congress member Baljinder Singh Jindu said it was unethical that the MLA and executive engineer encouraged power theft. "Now the poor man is in difficult situation. We would meet the PSPCL officials and urge them to reduce the bill," he said
