Ludhiana, February 10

The Sidhwan Bet police have registered a case against two persons on the charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

The suspect have been identified as Deepanshu Singla and Dhanna Singh.

Complainant Gurdeep Singh, a resident of Salempura, told the police that his younger brother Hardeep Singh (25) was married and also had a one-year-old daughter. Yesterday, he went to his work and when he returned home, his father informed that Deepanshu and Dhanna had taken Hardeep with them for consuming drugs.

The complainant alleged that he received a call from Davinder Singh of Salempura who informed that Hardeep had died and his body was lying on the banks of Sidhwan Bet. A syringe containing drugs was also found in his hand, he alleged.

Deceased’s brother said his brother had died because he was given overdose of drugs by Dhanna and Deepanshu.

It is pertinent to mention here that after the incident, villagers had also gathered in the Salempura village and held protest against the police for failing to control the menace of drugs. They alleged that due to the lethargic approach of police, drugs are easily available and drug addicts are losing their lives. Raids were on to nab the accused, the police said.
