Man gets 10 years in jail for raping 5-yr-old

Additional Sessions Judge Dilbag Singh Johal convicted Ginni Kumar, alias Ladoo, a resident of Pappu Da Vehra, Guru Nanak Pura, Ludhiana, under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO )Act.

He was ordered to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 10 years along with paying Rs1 lakh as fine. He was accused of sexually exploiting a 5-year-old nursery class girl, who used to come to his room to watch television.

Delivering the verdict, the court held that the prosecution has successfully proved the guilt of the accused. The court turned down the plea of leniency raised by the convict. A case against him was registered at Division No. 4 police station on February 10, 2015, following the statement of victim’s mother.

However, the accused pleaded innocence and claimed false implication. But after appreciating the evidence on record, the court found him guilty and sentenced accordingly.
