Ludhiana, June 18

Four Gurdaspur-based persons have been booked for allegedly kidnapping a Ludhiana-based man in the Jamalpur area on Sunday. The Jamalpur police have made no headway in the case yet.

The suspects have been identified as Bhao, Seeku, Alu Jamatu and Sipahia, all residents of Gurdaspur.

The complainant, Des Raj, a resident of Mehlo village, told the police that he, along with his friend Shamdeen (32), was going to Mehlo village from Koom Kalan on Sunday around 9.15 pm. An SUV blocked their way and four persons alighted from it. “Before we could ask them anything, another vehicle also arrived there with four more persons. They bundled Shamdeen into the SUV. One of the kidnappers, who was carrying a weapon, rode the tractor and they all fled the scene,” he added.

The complainant said the suspects had old enmity with his friend. He alleged the Jamalpur police were not doing proper investigation to trace the kidnappers.

The investigating officer, Head Constable Jaswinder Singh, said the kidnapped man was yet to be traced and efforts were on to know the whereabouts of the kidnappers. He doubted credibility of the complainant.—TNS
