Ludhiana, December 14

A large number of visitors, dairy owners, workers and local residents have been suffering for a long time as the roads at the dairy complex on Hambran Road are not being re-carpeted by the MC.

The recent rain has added to their woes. Several mishaps have occurred on these almost kutcha roads.

Besides residences and shops, there are more than 1,200 dairies running in the area. Earlier, the MC authorities had claimed that re-carpeting work would start after monsoon. Recarpeting work may get further delayed till February 2018 as the MC officials claimed work couldn’t be conducted due to low temperature these days. Thus, filthy conditions would continue to inconvenience people here.

Dairy owners and workers said they had been complaining about broken roads for more than past five years, but to no avail. Even potholes have not been filled, they added.

“The damaged roads have become the bane of pedestrians as well commuters. Many people avoid walking on muddy roads after rain. Many two-wheeler riders have suffered injuries on these slippery roads. Though I ride my two-wheeler carefully, I need to wash it every day,” said Kamaljeet, a dairy owner.

“I have been witnessing this poor condition of roads for the past seven years. Though people have raised the issue several times, there is no relief for us,” he added.

It was learnt that certain dairy owners dump cow dung on the roadside.

The area falls under Ward No. 28 and 55.
