Ludhiana, February 11

The Special Task Force of Ludhiana arrested a smuggler and recovered 2.018 kg of heroin from his possession.

The suspect has been identified as Jagdev Singh, alias Jagga, a resident of Talwandi Malia, Moga.

In a statement issued here, Snehdeep Sharma, Assistant Inspector General (AIG), STF, said there was secret information about the suspect that he was into heroin smuggling and on the way to deliver contraband to his clients from Moga to Ludhiana.

AIG Sharma said a police party laid a naka at a strategic point on the Ludhiana-Mullanpur GT road. The suspect, who was riding a scooter, was stopped for checking. Cops at the naka checked the dickey of the scooter and found 2.018 kg of heroin in it.

A case under the NDPS Act was registered against the suspect and he was arrested.

AIG Sharma said the suspect had come out on bail from the Faridkot Jail where he was lodged in a drug smuggling case in March last year. Out of the jail, the suspect returned to the illegal business. Further questioning of the suspect was on to bust the entire drug supply line, the cop said.
