Mystery shrouds youth’s death

Mystery shrouds the death of 25-year-old youth of Doraha, whose body was found in the fields on Bilga Road in Sahnewal last evening.

The death has spread panic in the town. The deceased was identified as Saurabh, son of Surinderpal Singh of Doraha. He was the only brother of four sisters. Saurabh had been working at a freight corridor for the past four months.

He left for his workplace on February 6. When he did not return, his kin started looking for him.

After three days, the body was found alongside Bilga Road. The police said it could be a case of drug overdose. When asked, the family of the deceased said he was not an addict.

The father of the deceased, Surinderpal Singh, alleged that his son was murdered.

Sahnewal ACP Lakhvir Singh Tiwana said the body bore no injury marks and that a case under Section 302 of the IPC had been registered.

He said the reason behind the death would be ascertained once the autopsy report was out.

The police have not been able to find the mobile phone of the youth.

Youth dies of drug overdose

Machhiwara: A youth died due to drug overdose on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Sarabjit Singh (24), a resident of Mangat Colony. As per information, the deceased was working in a factory. After his wife left him, he started doing drugs. Syringes and drug powder were recovered from the youth’s room. Machhiwara station house officer Darshan Singh said the youth died of drug overdose. The body was handed over to the family after the autopsy.
