Ludhiana, March 7
In a significant step towards international collaboration in healthcare, Hero DMC Heart Institute (HDHI) has opened its doors to a delegation of cardiovascular surgeons from Nepal. The focus of their visit is to undergo specialised training in Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) techniques, with a particular emphasis on the intricate procedure of Bilateral Internal Mammary Artery (IMA) CABG.
This educational initiative marks a unique exchange of expertise between healthcare professionals, fostering a spirit of shared knowledge and innovation. The visiting surgeons aim to enhance their skills in CABG, a critical surgical procedure for patients with coronary artery disease.
Dr GS Wander, principal, DMCH, emphasised that HDHI has been performing CABG with this technique without any cut on legs for the past decade, accumulating experience from 6,000 cases and previously training surgeons from Egypt, RML Lucknow and PGI Chandigarh.
Dr Sarju Ralhan, chief cardiac surgeon at Hero DMC Heart Institute, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. The programme includes hands-on sessions, live surgeries and interactive discussions, allowing the visiting surgeons to learn the latest tricks of the field.
