Due to the non-presence of Congress block samiti members at the time of no-confidence motion moved by Congress members against samiti Chairperson Kulwinder Kaur who belongs to the Akali Dal, the matter stood pending.

Akali-Dal Vice-President Darbara Singh Guru termed the move as the murder of democracy. He said there were total 15 members of the Khamano Block Samiti, of which 7, including the Chairperson belonged to the Akali Dal. He said though one-fifth members could move no-confidence motion, but 2/3rd majority was needed to pass the motion. He said 10 members were needed to pass the resolution and only one member Lakhwinder Singh turned up at the meeting. He said six Akali Dal members were present at the meeting, while Kulwinder Kaur was on leave.

However, Khamano SDM Isha Singal said only five members were present at the meeting, including the one who moved the motion. She said they were taking legal advice on the matter.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Harbans Singh Pandher claimed that they had the majority in the house, but they would go by the law and not take any unconstitutional step.
