Passengers are facing a tough time as most of the long-distance trains are running late due to inclement weather conditions. Six trains have been cancelled while seven others were rescheduled.

Rail traffic in the Amritsar-Ludhiana-New Delhi section was also affected as both pairs of Intercity Express train, a pair of Shane-Punjab Express train and a pair of morning Shatabdi Express train were running behind the schedule time by 1 to 3.15 hours.

According to railway officials, the 12332 Jammu-Howrah Himgiri Express, 13050 Howrah-Amritsar Express, 14673 Jaynagar-Amritsar Shaheed Express, 14674 Amritsar-Jaynagar Shaheed Express, 15209 Saharsa-Amritsar Jansewa Express and 15210 Amritsar-Saharsa Jansewa Express were cancelled for the day.

The trains rescheduled due to operational reasons were 12203 Saharsa-Amritsar Garib Rath (3.30 hrs), 12238 Jamu-Varanasi Begumpura Express (3 hrs), 12414 Jammu-Ajmer Pooja Superfast Express (3.20 hrs), 12459 New Delhi-Amritsar Intercity Express (2.05 hrs), 12498 Amritsar-New Delhi Shane-Punjab (1 hrs), 13006 Amritsar-Howrah Express (3.05 hrs) and 18238 Amritsar-Bilaspur Chhattisgarh Express (4.20 hrs).

With most of the trains between New Delhi and various destinations in Punjab running late by several hours, there was a virtual scramble among the New Delhi-bound passengers to get reservation in alternate trains, which again are running at its capacity. Many passengers had to either shelve or alter their travel plans while some others chose to travel by road. Counters at the railway station also witnessed the huge rush of passengers who wanted to get their tickets either cancelled or refunded.
