The cancellation of trains due to operational reasons and delayed run of most of the long-route trains has become a regular feature in the prevailing weather condition and there seems to be no respite for passengers.
Passengers have been at the receiving end for more than a month now, while the railway authorities have apparently given in meekly to the adverse weather.
Rail travellers, especially the UP and Bihar-bound migrants, were put to a lot of inconvenience due to the cancellation of the 15210 Amritsar-Saharsa Jansewa; 15212 Amritsar-Darbhanga Jannayak; 15209 Saharsa-Amritsar Jansewa; 12237 Varanasi-Jammu Tawi Begumpura Express; 14649 Jaynagar-Amritsar Saryu-Yamuna Express and 13050 Amritsar-Howrah Express.
Other trains cancelled for the day citing operational reasons include the 12903Mumbai Central-Amritsar Golden Temple Mail; 12920 Jammu Tawi-Indore Malwa Express; 12925 Bandra (Mumbai)-Amritsar Pashchim Express; 14033 Delhi-Katra Jammu Mail; 14629 Ludhiana-Ferozepur Sutlej Express; 18227 Bilaspur-Amritsar Chhattisgarh Express; 19614 Amritsar-Ajmer Express and 74647/74648 Ludhiana-Jalandhar-Ludhiana DMU.
Meanwhile, several long-route trains running behind schedule further added to the misery of rail travellers.
As per official information, the 13005 Howrah-Amritsar Mail was late by 1-.40 hours, 18101 Tatanagar-Jammu Tawi by 5 hours, 12413 Ajmer-Jammu Tawi Puja Superfast Express by 4.40 hours, 14674 Amritsar-Jaynanagr Shaheed Express by 3.55 hours, 18237 Bilaspur-Amritsar Chhattisgarh Express by 3.50 hours, 14612 Amritsar-Gorakhpur Jansadharan by 3.20 hours, 12919 Indore-Jammu Tawi Malwa Express by 2.55 hours and 11058 Amritsar-Mumbai CST Express by 2.30 hours.
Some other express, passenger, MEMU and DMU trains, including the 12331 Howrah-Jammu Tawi Himgiri Express; 12484 Amritsar-Kochuveli Superfast Express; 54053 Jakhal-Ludhiana passenger; 12380 Amritsar-Sealdah Jallianwala Bagh Express; 64552 Amritsar-Ludhiana MEMU; 12715 Nanded-Amritsar Sachkhand Express and 02125 Nagour-Amritsar AC Superfast special trains were also running late by up to two hours.
