The Shiv Sena Punjab today organised a protest at the Samrala Chowk and demanded the arrest of Shri Hindu Takht leader Amit Sharma’s killers. Protesters categorically said Amit was not killed by any terrorist as being stated by some members of his organisation, but due to personal enmity.

The protesters demanded that if the police investigated the case on the personal enmity angle and role of his organisation’s members, things could be exposed and the case cracked anytime.

Ashwani Chopra, district president of the Shiv Sena Punjab, said there was no angle of terrorist attack in Amit’s killing the same as in the killing of Hindu leader Vipan Sharma who was shot dead in Amritsar a few days ago. “We can say with confidence that whenever this case is solved, personal enmity angle will come to light. Even the killers are his close aides,” Chopra said.

He said a day after Amit was shot dead on January 14 outside the Durga Mata temple, the Shiv Sena Punjab had apprised the police that Amit was killed by his close aides. “We have been raising the issue for past 10 months but the police are yet to reach at any conclusion. Some of Amit’s friends and business partners have been keeping a low profile ever since he was shot dead. If the police interrogate them, the case can be solved,” Chopra said.

They also demanded that the police also investigate the role of Amit’s counterparts who had stamped the killing as a terrorist attack.
