The medico-legal reports registered at the Civil Hospital after scuffles and fights are now available online at the department.
In addition to this, medico-legal reports which were earlier given in a handwritten form are now available in print as well.
A lot of people were facing difficulties in getting the medico-legal reports from the civil hospital as every emergency medical officer (EMO) has his/her own register and used to give the MLRs from their respective registers. If anybody wanted the copy of MLR, they used to wait for a particular EMO to come on duty so that they could get the copy. Now, the entire data would be available online and every EMO can access any medico-legal report and give a print to the person who needs it.
In addition to this, officials from Chandigarh will also have access to the data and they will come to know about the number of MLRs registered in hospitals every day.
Appreciating the move, Harvinder Singh, a city resident who had to make various rounds to the hospital to get the copy of the MLR, said: “It is a good step taken by the department as the data will now be available to the entire staff on duty. I needed the copy of the MLR and had to make several rounds of the hospital as the EMO concerned was on leave and others did not had access to his register. I needed the copy of MLR very urgently for judicial purpose but had to wait.”
Senior Medical Officer Dr Parwinder Pal Singh Sidhu said: “MLRs available online for the department are proving very beneficial. Now, every doctor on emergency duty can access the data of the MLRs registered and can give a print if the person needs it.”
