A day after the members of Jan Shakti Organisation burnt the effigy of Aamir Khan, controversial Shiv Sena leader — Rajiv Tandon — along with his men today staged a protest outside the hotel at Ferozepur road, where Khan is staying along with his crew.

Tandon, who is notorious for making crass statements, reached the hotel along with his 20-odd sidekicks.

After burning the effigy, Tandon announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh to a person for slapping Aamir Khan.

However, no reaction came from Aamir’s side. Congress leader Ishwarjot Cheema, however, took a strong objection to Tandon’s comments. “What Aamir stated during a function was his (Hindu) wife’s views. People like Aamir had just expressed their concern.

Unfortunately stooges like Tandon miss no opportunity in drawing political gain out of it,” Cheema said.

In the wake of increasing protests, the police have beefed up security around the hotel and the village, where the film is being shot.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Narinder Bhargav said the security has not been increased. “Appropriate arrangements are made as per the situation for the convenience of the public at large,” the Deputy Commissioner of Police said.

On the other hand, Aamir Khan continued to maintain a distance from the media.

Rumours were also doing the rounds that after a brief shoot at Kila Raipur, Aamir returned to Mumbai this afternoon, from where he would leave for a foreign destination for a month and return in January.

The film star is shooting for his film “Dangal” at Gujjarwal village.

Besides police personnel, a number of private security guards (bouncers) have also been increased.

Earlier, Moti Bhanoot of Jan Shakti Organisation had said that they would show black flags to Aamir Khan where the shooting of his movie was in progress.

The 50-year-old “PK” star during his outing at an award function on Sunday evening in the national capital had said he has been “alarmed” by a number of incidents and his wife Kiran Rao even suggested that they should probably leave the country.
