Ludhiana, April 19

The Meharban police have nabbed a man on the charge of attempting to rape a 10-year-old girl. The suspect has been identified as Avtar Singh, a resident of Moga.

The complainant, who is the mother of the victim, told the police that on April 16 night, after making her daughter sleep in her room, she went to meet neighbours. When the victim’s mother returned home, she suspected some movement inside the room. To inquire, she loudly called out her daughter’s name. Within no time, the suspect came out of her daughter’s room and fled the scene.

When she entered the room, she found her daughter half naked. “It seemed the accused has attempted to rape my daughter,” she said. The police have arrested the accused. TNS
