Bhaini Saheb, October 16
A padyatra was organised by the Namdhari Darbar, under Namdhari Chief Uday Singh, in the memory of late Mata Chand Kaur who was shot dead on April 4, 2016, by two unidentified persons.
This march was for demanding the arrest of the alleged killers. This padyatra started from Bhaini Saheb in the morning and ended here after passing through Katanai and Kot Gangu Rai.
Dera spokesman Lakhvir Singh said though the Kuka Martyrs had played a big role in the freedom struggle, the day-light murder of Mata Chand Kaur was a cause of worry for the sect as the accused were still unidentified and out of the police net.
He said they had full faith in the investigating agencies, but they did not have a clue to the murderers yet despite forming a SIT and handing over the investigation of the case to the CBI.
The marchers demanded immediate arrest of the killers of Mata Chand Kaur. RN Dhoke, Ludhiana Commissioner of Police, said the investigation of this case was with the CBI and they were assisting, providing information and outputs demanded by the CBI at intervals.
Sant Jagtar Singh, Mata Gursharn Kaur, Biba Sahib Kaur, Sant Jai Singh, Sant Manvjit Singh Gill, Sewak Kartar Singh and a number of other senior Dera functionaries and followers of the Namdhari Darbar participated in the march.
