PAU prof attends int’l conference

Professor and head, department of mechanical engineering, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Dr VP Sethi (in pic), attended the second International Conference on “Materials, Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering (MMME)-2017” as keynote speaker, held at Phuket, Thailand, on December 29 and 30, 2017. Dr Sethi delivered his keynote address on the topic “Technological perspectives of improved solar and drying devices with societal impact at domestic and commercial scale” with special emphasis on green energy use and environmental impact analysis for carbon dioxide mitigation potential and carbon credit earning by using solar technologies as a replacement of fossil/biomass based fuel technologies. His speech was highly appreciated.

Dr Sethi has been working in the area of design and development of improved solar thermal and greenhouse technologies for the last two decades. He has developed many technologies such as inclined solar cooker, community solar cooker, greenhouse/solar crop dryers, the results of which have been published in international journals of high impact factor. He has also published more than 60 research and review articles in national and international journals of repute. Based on his research contributions, he was invited as ‘Visiting Research Faculty’ and ‘Guest Faculty’ by North Dakota State University, USA and University of Guelph, Canada, respectively, for collaborative research. He is also the recipient of many national and international awards and honours for his outstanding research work.— TNS
