Ludhiana, January 16

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Gill Constituency Jiwan Singh Sangowal today filed his candidature in a typical ‘aam aadmi’ style. He came to the Zila Parishad office riding a scooter with his wife Rupinder Kaur.

However, Jiwan Sangowal’s supporters remained ‘Khaas Aadmi’ and a majority of them travelled in SUVs as they reached the Zila Parishad office.

While entering the office of the returning officer, Sangowal said, “My fight is against the corrupt system and drugs that has rotten our younger generation.”

“No violation was reported during the filing of candidature. If there was some minor anomaly that was conveyed to the candidate,” said returning officer Gagandeep Singh Virk.

He said besides Sangowal, his wife also filed the candidature as the covering candidate.

Party supporter comes from Delhi

Chander Shekhar Joshi, an AAP volunteer from Delhi was seen cheering Sangowal and his family. Joshi was wearing party badges all over his kurta and a leaf of broom on his Gandhi topi.

He said on Sunday, he campaigned for AAP candidate from Dakha HS Phoolka and on Monday, he visited the Zila Parishad office to support Jivan Sangowal.

Hailing form Dwarka in Delhi, Joshi said he got attached with the party and supporting their candidate for the ensuing election in Punjab.

“I decided to visit the city after learning that a group of AAP deserters had staged a protest. These deserters are indulging baseless propaganda against AAP. Delhi is witnessing all-round development ever since AAP has taken control over the

government. These protestors were nothing but stooges of the BJP and Congress,” Joshi said.
