Poll Commission orders transfer of Dakha SHO

Ludhiana: The Election Commission of India on Monday ordered the transfer of SHO Dakha.

Ludhiana: The Election Commission of India on Monday ordered the transfer of SHO Dakha. Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, S Karuna Raju said complaints have been received against SHO Dakha and he sought the report from the authorities concerned in this regard and forwarded it with comments to the Election Commission of India for further action. Raju said the Punjab Police were requested to appoint the new SHO at Dakha. Earlier, two residents including Jagshir Singh and Viney Verma of Dakha had filed separate complaints, demanding transfer of Dakha SHO Prem Singh. Jagsheer Singh had alleged that the SHO was appointed to benefit the Congress candidate. A few days after, SAD candidate Manpreet Singh Ayali had also demanded the transfer of Dakha SHO Prem Singh. Ayali had alleged that Prem Singh has faced many complaints in the past. Ayali had further alleged that Inspector Prem Singh has the history of issuing threats to common voters earlier and was also transferred from Dehlon police station at that time. His appointment at Dakha was in violation of Model Code of Conduct, Ayali had alleged.— TNS
