Raikot DSP Gurmit Singh Tejey has sought cooperation from the public in fighting social evil and maintaining law and order in the circle.

Officials of the Police Department have been advised to rope in office-bearers of social, educational and religious organisations for implementing agenda against drug addiction.

Showing satisfaction over the outcome of informal meetings with the SHOs and beat officers after joining the new posting here on Wednesday, DSP Gurmit Singh Tejey said the designated officials had been advised to keep a balance between routine work and special duties in connection with ensuing crusade launched against social evils.

“Though fighting drug menace is the top priority for all police officials, however, we will try to ensure that those coming to various police stations and chowkis do not return unattended,” he said.

He said meetings with office-bearers and activists of various organisations would be held soon.
