SAI, Sports Dept take out rally

LUDHIANA: The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed in the city by different organisations and hospitals here on Tuesday.

The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed in the city by different organisations and hospitals here on Tuesday.

The district administration organised events to mark the day under mission ‘Tandarust Punjab’. An awareness rally was carried out in association with the Sports Department and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) from Guru Nanak Stadium in the morning. Hundreds of people took part in the rally.

The rally was flagged off by Damanjeet Singh Maan, SDM West. The rally started from the Fountain Chowk and covered Mall Road, Bharat Nagar Chowk, Durga Mata Temple areas and concluded at Guru Nanak Stadium.

People carried drug-free Punjab placards and banners. Dayanand Medical College and Hospital also observed the day.

Dr Ranjive Mahajan, Professor and Head of Psychiatry, Dr Navkiran Mahajan, Professor of Psychiatry, and Dr BP Mishra, Clinical Psychologist, along with Senior Residents of the Psychiatry Department were also present.

Patients who are taking treatment also shared their views. Dr Surinder Gupta, secretary of the National Integrated Medical Association (NIMA), along with Asha TB Project (ATP) volunteers distributed Pamphlets to create awareness against drug abuse. — TNS
